The city hall announced today that the tender for the makeover of Chmielna Street will be announced in June, followed by the start of construction in September and a projected completion date of May 31st, 2024.

Despite the street’s reputation for its vibrant restaurants and cafés, it has unfortunately suffered from years of neglect, leading to the deterioration of several buildings, rampant graffiti, and multiple closures of businesses. As part of the proposed revitalization project, the street will be transformed into an exclusive pedestrian zone, featuring an abundance of greenery, hundreds of trees, thousands of flowers, a fountain in front of KINO Artlantic, LED lighting. This is intended to enhance the pedestrian experience and restore the area’s appeal.
