The SKRA Athletics Stadium revitalization first stage signed!

On June 6th, 2022, Rafał Trzaskowski, President of Warsaw, signed the first stage of SKRA’s modernization. This first stage consists of the construction of an athletics training stadium, throwing zones, a rugby field, cloakroom, and sanitary facilities, as well as green and recreational areas connected with Pole Mokotowskie. The first stage of the revitalization of the complex will be performed by the Tamex Objects Sport and Gardenia Sport consortium. The detailed concept is expected by September 2022, and design documentation by July 2023. Completion of construction is planned for December 2024, for an opening in the first quarter of 2025.

The second stage of the revitalization will be the construction of the main stadium, with an audience capacity of 25,000, and the Legia’s basketball sports hall for 6 to 7,000 spectators.

Built in 1953, the SKRA Stadium was initially a speedway stadium surrounded by 35,000 people and equipped with volleyball and basketball courts, tennis courts, a training football pitch, and a speedway track. More than only a stadium, it was a complex with a hotel, a canteen, a swimming pool, a doctor’s office, a sauna, and a gym created by Aleksander Wadas Studio. The last global renovation of the place was made more than 20 years ago and the complex. and the complex was in a very bad state. After years of court disputes, the property was taken over by the city. Today the site is being cleaned in order to start the work. The expected cost of the project is PLN 52 million.
