
Why? Tomorrow is the FAT THURSDAY “Tłusty Czwartek”. Fat Thursday is celebrated once a year, on the last Thursday before the Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. On this day poles eat sweets and cakes (1200 calories), but the bestseller is the ‘Pączek‘ the famous traditional poles doughnuts. In Warsaw, people queue up to purchase pączki. Founded in 1925, one of the most famous pastry shops in Warsaw and Poland is Zagoździński (Górczewska 15 – Wola), supplier of the Marshal Józef Piłsudski, they sell nearly 10 000 pączki every Tłusty Czwartek.
