
The Warsaw National Stadium will officially have a new name tomorrow, Sunday, October 10th. For 10 years called the ‘PGE Narodowy’, the new official name will be ‘PGE Narodowy im. Kazimierza Górskiego’ in reference to one of the greatest Polish football coach, and player, Kazimierz Górski. Since 2015, A statue in his honor is visible at the entrance of the stadium.
Dead in 2006, Kazimierz Górski (his football nickname was “Sarenka” (“Roe-deer”)) was coach of the Polish National team between 1970 and 1976, but also several Polish and European teams including: Legia Warszawa, ŁKS Łódź, Panathinaikos or the Olympiacos and a former football player at the ‘Legia Warszawa’ between 1945 and 1953. He was selected once for the national team in 1948.
