This year is the 102nd Anniversary of the Poland’s regained independence following the allied victory against the Germany on November 11th, 1918.
In 1795, Poland was split into the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Russia and Prussia. Despite Napoleon’s epopee, two insurrection and revolution, those efforts remained unsuccessful and failed to bring Poland the independence and freedom so desired. This situation remained in force until 1918. On November 11, 1918, on the day of the Armistice, Jozef Pilsudski received the full powers to lead the military authority. The German soldiers were disarmed, while the crowds gathered on the streets throughout Poland. November 11th, was declared national holiday in 1937.
