The government is building the first field hospital in Warsaw for patients with Covid-19 inside the PGE Stadion Narodowy. The installation of beds began yesterday – at the beginning, there will be 500 of them with oxygen units installed in conference rooms and 50 with intensive care equipments, with a possible extension to 1000 in the worst case and over 160 medics will work onsite. Other fields hospital could be built in the capital but also in several cities in Poland (in the International Congress Center in Katowice). The whole project is coordinated by the Army under the supervision of the Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki.
Following the fast increasing of new COVID-19 cases that have left the health system struggling with the lack of beds for other illnesses, the government is employing the necessary resources. This week several witnesses have reported patients rejected from hospitals while being in the ambulance.
