
Update 00:00 – 31.08.2020 – The alert was accurate, Warsaw was hit by a massive thunderstorm with hundreds of lightning per minute and gusts winds at + 100 km/h. The water level in Warsaw on the Vistula rose by 5 cm. Damages were recorded in some parts of the city with fallen trees, floods, cars damaged… Several hundreds of calls were received by the firefighters. According to the authorities, 22 000 people ran out of electricity. The air traffic was stopped at Chopin airport.
THE HIGHEST DANGER ISSUED – LEVEL 3 – The capital is part of a large area (From southwest Poland to North East of Poland) of potential very strong gusts of wind (possible cases of 100 km / h +), heavy rainfalls, hailstorms (up to 6 cm), and even large tornadoes F2/F3 (180 to 320 km/h). The event is expected for the evening and the night.
Do not park under trees, do not hide under trees. Remove from balconies and gardens anything that can be caught by the wind. Secure any items that may be damaged.
